Cranford Township

Cranford is a suburban community located in north central New Jersey. The town hosts a Colonial style look, accented by a clock tower and lamp posts, lovely brick sidewalks, pedestrian benches and raised flower beds. The five mile Township is strategically situated for business and personal travel. It is located in Union County, which is at the hub of the air, road, and rail transportation network serving the Northeast corridor, form Boston to Washington, D.C.

There is convenient commuter rail transportation to Newark and New York City and excellent bus service to Newark, the New York Port Authority Terminal, and its surrounding towns. The Garden State Parkway skirts Cranford, offering a convenient route to the Jersey shore area and connecting with the New Jersey Turnpike and Routes 22, 78, 287 and 80. The Township of Cranford has a population of nearly 23,000 with 8,200 households and is five square miles in area. A working farm even exists within the Township and offers plants and fresh produce at retail.

Cranford has nearly 400 acres of county and municipal parks and open space and an extensive recreation program with a community center, ball fields, tennis courts etc. There are three municipal pools (2 outdoor, 1 indoor) operated on a membership basis, and a private pool. The Rahway River meanders through the community, offering canoeing and fishing, as well as ice skating in the winter.

Though primarily a residential town, Cranford has a vibrant retail center serving a compact and relatively affluent trade zone in which many business services are available. A former school building was converted to house professional suites as well as speciality shops.
