Cranford Historical Society
History of the Society The Cranford Historical Society was founded in 1927 by a small group of Cranford citizens
interested in preserving the town's unique history. Since then, the Society has been dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of Cranford's history. Our collection today includes
photographs, scrapbooks, glass negatives, furniture, tools, kitchen and farm implements, Indian artifacts, costumes and textiles, books, letters and numerous other artifacts related to Cranford
and its citizens. We continue to collect and document Cranford's history as it prepares to enter the 21st century.
The Cranford Historical Society is fortunate to have two buildings. The Crane-Philips House and the Hanson House. The society has occupied the Crane-Philips house since 1928 and the
society and its friends have maintained this facility bringing bits of history to the residents of Cranford and the surrounding communities. All the students in the school system have been
treated to a tour of the Crane Philips museum. About the Society

Volunteer Opportunities Whatever your interest, talents or time schedule, our volunteer program has a place for you.
Docents are always needed for tours of the Crane-Phillips House. We provide training in the history of the house and the artifacts found there. Behind the scenes volunteers are always
needed in our office and library, located in the Hanson House. Volunteers are needed for help with research, collection classification and maintenance, exhibit development, genealogical
research, and maintenance of our photograph archives. Volunteers also help with our ever growing and very exciting costume collection.
