Joanne Cowan

Mrs. Joanne B. Cowan, 55, of Cranford died yesterday at home.   She brought food to the needy and homeless as a volunteer at St. Joseph's Shelter in Elizabeth.  Mrs. Cowan was born in Wilmington, N.C., and lived in Elizabeth before moving to Cranford in 1976.  She was a catechism teacher and a eucharistic minister for Masses at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church.  Her father, Arthur P. Lynch, is deceased.   Surviving are three daughters, Laura, Kristin and Katherine; her mother, Betty Lynch; two brothers, Arthur Lynch and Timothy Lynch; and three sisters, Patricia Tretola, Betty Milton and mary Lunch.  A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael's Church.  Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.  Arrangements were by the Dooley Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church.
