Welcome to The Old Guard of Westfield
Old Guard of Westfield and is a social club of retired men from Westfield and surrounding communities. Old Guard of Westfield was founded in 1933 and is the second oldest of twenty-six Old
Guard Clubs in New Jersey. Our members participate in activities such as golf, bowling, shuffleboard, bridge, Founders Day luncheon and the Merrymen Chorus and Band. The Merrymen
Chorus and Band perform numerous times each year for various senior groups. Our wives join us on several day trips to places of interest, our ladies' day luncheon and our annual picnic.
Our club also attends shuffleboard and bridge tournaments with other Old Guard clubs in the area. Representatives of each club meet three times a year for a luncheon and to discuss items of special interest. We meet each Thursday, except during the summer, at the Westfield YMCA at 9:30 am for refreshments and socializing, at 10:00 am for a meeting and about 11:00 am for an entertainment or
informative program. Attendance ranges are from about 55 to 70 members. Dues are $10.00 annually. Retired men interested in joining our Old Guard of Westfield are invited to attend our Thursday
morning meetings. For more information call Harold Hitchcox at (908) 233-1638 or Pete Abitante at (908) 233-0532.
